SEN Teaching Assistants

Contract: Full-time / term time

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a committed and supportive team at a brand-new specialist school opening in September. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new provision and play a key role in shaping a positive learning environment for pupils with special educational needs.

About the SEN Teaching Assistant Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support that meets the individual needs of pupils. You will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage in learning, develop independence, and build confidence.

You will play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and achieve their personal learning goals
  • Implement strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and emotional regulation
  • Promote positive behaviour and help create a calm, structured learning environment
  • Assist in the preparation of personalised learning resources and activities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting
  • Is calm, patient, resilient, and empathetic
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and making a difference
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Can use their initiative and adapt to the needs of individual pupils
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
