Job Description

Smart Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a secondary SEMH school in Bilston.

This is a rewarding temp-to-perm opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them succeed both academically and personally.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored support for secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. The successful Teaching Assistant will help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment while building positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and emotional regulation.

Job Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom

  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Help maintain a safe and structured learning environment

Requirements for a Teaching Assistant
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
